Blueart
Behind the name Blueart is a Valencian painter who has devoted his whole life to the craft. He is one of the veterans of Cuadros Sils: decades of canvas, workshop and wall have given him something that cannot be improvised – the confidence of someone who no longer needs to prove anything and paints with complete freedom.
That freedom shows in the variety of his work. Blueart is, above all, an explorer of materials: he works gravel, sand, cord and stucco into the canvas, turning the picture into an almost sculptural object, with real relief that changes with the light in the room. His textured compositions in neutrals – whites, stone, earth tones – have the quiet elegance of an old wall, and they sit alongside a completely different register: that of pure gesture, where the paint twists into dense, colour-laden brushstrokes full of energy and movement.
Between these two extremes is the more graphic, contemplative Blueart: faces drawn with a single continuous line on textured backgrounds, geometric compositions of almost architectural restraint, and nods to the great tradition of Spanish painting – such as his contemporary reinterpretations of the Meninas – that connect his work with a shared visual memory.
For interior design projects, that breadth is invaluable: Blueart's work can bring mineral serenity to a Scandinavian or Mediterranean space, graphic presence to a contemporary interior, or an accent of colour and energy wherever the project calls for it. Each piece leaves his hands as a one-off, with the solid craftsmanship that only experience brings.
Blueart sums it up in the way he works: the material leads, and the painter just has to know how to listen to it.
